Nation Presentation

Located in central and eastern Africa, South Sudan is a nation marked by vast landscapes covering some 644,329 square kilometers. Despite the challenges posed by conflict and a relatively short history as an independent nation, South Sudan is characterized by a rich cultural tapestry and diverse ethnic groups. English is the official language, reflecting the country's colonial history. Southern Sudan's economy is primarily based on oil production and agriculture, with vast untapped potential in other sectors. The country needs to overcome its historical challenges and put in place the basic structures for sustainable growth. Actively seeking foreign investment and international support, South Sudan aims to diversify its economy, invest in infrastructure, and foster inclusive development. As the country navigates its unique development trajectory, there is a concerted effort to balance economic progress with the preservation of cultural heritage and environmental resources, with the aim of forging a stable and prosperous future.

Brief introduction to UPF:

UPF has been active in South Sudan since 2017. VIPs have participated in several conferences/summits organized by UPF at regional and international levels. UPF South Sudan was able to send representatives to various international conferences and summits, for example in Senegal, Niger, Sao Tome and South Africa. South Sudan had one of the largest delegations of 18 participants at the 2020 World Summit in Korea. South Sudan also took part in UPF webinars for the African region and internationally, during which the President of South Sudan gave a keynote speech. One of South Sudan's clergy, the Reverend Nathaniel Mayom, is also a member of the Africa Region's Council of Religious Leaders. The Honorable Nyenakwek Kuol, a former minister, has played an influential role in coordinating the country's leading figures. UPF Southern Sudan has remained active despite the difficulties encountered on the ground.
